Our Philosophy: Let’s Navigate Cancer Together.

Whether you are a proponent of conventional medicine, holistic medicine, or something in between it can be challenging to navigate the abundance of medical information and advice out there. Even more challenging is figuring out how to apply this information to your individual health and daily habits. You may want to feel less tired, keep up with your grandchildren or travel to a place on your bucket list. Having the mental and physical capacity to do these things can be achieved if you want it.

Your medical providers, your family and friends and the internet are well intentioned in wanting to help you. Health is very personal and to obtain the outcomes you want, the ultimate decision-maker has to be you. Although it can be beneficial to welcome the support of your medical and social networks, remember that you know yourself best. Your body, your lifestyle, your values and your thoughts all go into the decisions you make on a daily basis. Health care decisions are no exception to this. We want to foster and grow your knowledge as well as your ability to make decisions. We support healing and long-term health maintenance by:

  • Providing diverse knowledge through evidence-based research from experts in western and naturopathic medicine: There is a place for both schools of thought and each can be beneficial for different phases of illness. As I say to my loved ones through my own cancer experience; conventional medicine got me through cancer and functional medicine allows me to live fully every day after.
  • Transforming recommendations from research findings into daily actions: We help you reframe your mindset and create healthy habits that are customized to a busy lifestyle. Start by assessing your life priorities without judgment, then determine the area of your life where you need the most help and focus your efforts there initially.

Much of the insight we bring you will be centered around what we call the Anti-Cancer Development Formula: Nutrition + Physical Activity + Mental Wellness. Mental wellness encompasses such aspects as brain health, emotional healing, sense of community, and stress reduction.

Another component, toxin reduction will come up periodically. Due to the complexity of our modern day environment there is considerable opportunity for continued research on the identification of toxins and their effects on health.

The significance of each component varies by each individual’s upbringing and lifestyle. This will look different to everyone. If you want to be successful in applying this formula to your life, understand that different doesn’t mean bad or good. A balance is what we are looking for, not perfection.
